JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Head – Quality with 20+ years of experience in the steel manufacturing and processing industry. The position will be responsible for leading the overall Quality Assurance and Quality Control function, establishing robust quality systems, ensuring product and process compliance, managing customer quality requirements, reducing quality losses, and driving continuous improvement across plant operations.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on and leadership experience in Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), Color Coating Line (CCL), and finished steel products, along with strong exposure to customer audits, quality systems, process improvement, and team management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the overall Quality Assurance and Quality Control function across the plant.
- Establish and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO, BIS, and customer requirements.
- Ensure process and product quality across CRM, CGL, CCL, and finished steel operations.
- Drive customer complaint resolution, RCA, 8D, CAPA, and preventive actions.
- Lead customer, internal, external, and certification audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Drive reduction in rejection, rework, process deviations, customer complaints, and Cost of Poor Quality.
- Monitor key quality KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee quality laboratory, inspection, testing, calibration, and product release activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality team and build a strong quality culture across the plant.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong leadership experience in steel manufacturing and processing.
- Extensive knowledge of CRM, CGL, and CCL operations.
- Strong technical understanding of PPGI, PPGL, GI, GL, and colour-coated steel products.
- Strong knowledge of QMS, ISO standards, BIS requirements, and customer quality standards.
- Expertise in 8D, CAPA, RCA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto Analysis.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical, mechanical, coating, surface, and paint-related quality parameters.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- 20+ years of relevant experience in steel manufacturing, steel processing, cold rolling, galvanizing, metallic coating, colour coating, or related industries.
- Should have significant experience in leading the Quality function at a plant/unit or multi-functional level.
- Strong experience in CRM, CGL, and CCL quality management will be highly preferred.
- Proven experience in managing customer complaints, customer audits, product quality issues, and technical discussions.
- Strong experience in implementing and improving Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with PPGI, PPGL, GI, GL, and colour-coated steel products will be an added advantage.
- Should have experience managing and developing a large Quality team.
- Candidates with experience in reputed steel, metal processing, or coating organizations will be preferred.
